Hi, When using GKnot the normal movies don't give me any problems in getting a good bits/pixels value and compress. value. But when doing a videoclip I'm having trouble in deciding what size the movie should be in MB, what correct values are for bits/pixels etc. I don't have a clue to determine the filesize I should take and I'm getting high (0.3-0.4) values for bits/pixel. I'm not sure what is good. The guides talk about 0.2 but that's in case of a full cd movie. So are there any guidelines for these values ?? Bhodi

This is basically the same question you asked in the newbie forum. Please don't crosspost. See below... Well there can be a few different factors when deciding this. How many videos do you want on a single cd? How long are each? (See what I'm getting at). What I usually do is enter around 1000 for bitrate and see how big the resulting file is calculated at. Then decide if I want it to be bigger or smaller. It will also depend on what type and quality of audio you are using, mp3, aac, etc. Try this and see what bit/pixel values it gives you. Mac

Sorry, didn't mean to crosspost, thought this was not the same question (maybe basically it is :) ). I think I get it, the only thing i still have questions about is the bits/pixel part. Is this no problem as long as it shows up in a gray color and not red or yellow in GKnot? Thnx Bhodi

Correct - the color indication is simply warning you that a potential problem may exist. It still may look fine to you. If you are wanting to encode at the selected parameters and get a red or yellow indicator simply encode a sample and see how it looks to you. If you keep the bit/pixel above .20 you should be alright (just a general statement, depending on the input, this may or maynot be enough). I always encode a small sample (usually 1 chapter with action if possible) and check how it will look before I waste 4 hours on something that I am not going to be satisfied with. Mac
