How do i get vst plugins to show up on protools? They are loaded and ready in my digidesign/protools/plug-ins folder but when i load protools i cannot find them anywhere. Are there any settings i need to change... anything i need to do? or do VST plugins just not work with protools 7.1.1 i know they are the universal plug-in so i dont see why it shouldnt work. any help is appreciated thanks

VST plugins are not supported directly by Pro Tools. You need at wrapper, available from FXpansion, to use VST plugins in Pro Tools. HTH Ray

VST plugs do not work directly in Pro Tools. You need a VST to RTAS converter or "wrapper".

As mentioned above, VST to RTAS works GREAT, but you MUST move your VST plugs to a different folder. They belong in ROOT:LIBRARY:AUDIO:PLUGINS:VST with ROOT being the top-most level of your drive and NOT your USER level. Also, the latest version of VST to RTAS is for PTv7.

That's where any VST host will look for them. VST to RTAS Wrapper CAN be set to look somewhere else, but the default is in the folder I mentioned above.

If you're on PT7 and VST-RTAS wrapper v2.0 there's no need to move anything. The Wrapper scans the VST plugin folder and shows you the list of detected plugs. From there you chose which ones you want to wrap, it will only convert those, leaveng all others untouched. Version 1 is a different story, I wont even consider using that one.
