I have the exact same problems as you lwight. I can open a new session, then import a song, then after pt decodes, but before the screen where i assume the song is dropped into a track i get the fatal exception. Pt show the error as soon as it is finished initializing or decoding the song i have imported. Just after the progress bars finish importing. I also get fatal exception when i try to create a session. I've tried to unistall and reinstall but nothing has changed, i flashed my bios with the latest version, reinstalled my soundcard and nothing. Dunno? I am not giving up tho. Please keep in touch if you find an answer. Also I read somewhere that if you go to hardware profiles and click ok that fixes it? That was off the top of my head but it did not work for me. My system Asus a7v w/ via's kt133 amd t-bird 800 256 pc133ram 30.7 gig maxtor sblive x-gamer ati's 64ddr vivo

Huh, interesting. The zip does not apply to me however in my system devices my hard drive is not picking up inder mass storage controller, but i boot fine and have full acess to all 30 gigs. My problem has to do with asus a7v and the ata 100 socket my harddrive is plugged into. Maybe my problem exists because pt is not finding the hard drive at all? Originally I thought it had to do with sblaster card because that is the only thing I had in common with lwight. Tweak away time to get win98 to recognize that drive under systems devices. Im sure ill be back and thank you so much for your input. jason

I got the same fatal exceptions and in my case it had to do with an external ZIP-drive. While i was loading a track or song i had a zip drive loaded. PT looks for any drive available and detects the hard drive and the ZIP drive. Before showing the track or song PT crashed. When i unloaded the ZIP drive before loading a track/song, PT only saw the hard drive and everything worked well. Jan

Bingo for me too! I ran sisoft sandra on my hardrive and my score was very low. 7000 which is the same score as a udma 33 drive. I reinstalled my promise 100 drivers and enabled the the 100 support now i benchmark at 21,000 and some change, 1/3 faster that udma 66 support 13,000. No fatal exceptions on importing songs. But i tried playing a song and now i have 9092 error. I haven't even tried trouble shooting it yet because i was so stoked that protools layed a 4minute trak into its program in 1 second. My problem solved: hard drive was too slow. Thanks again. Now off to 9092.
