You guys may want to consider lobbying for actions that can instantiate plugins with a given preset. Nuendo can instantiate item fx with a macro. That could make it a little easier for folks to write their own actions to give them an EQ on selected tracks, or any kind of plugin DSP on an item, and then render it as a new take quickly. That wouldn't simplify a lot of things though. Having some kind of library access to the presets, and having a way to instantiate the plugin with that preset whereever you toss it in to would be an improvement that would simplify plugin setup a little.

Re: menu customization With some additional development, I believe the SWS Console extension has the potential to be a customization engine, that when combined with Reaper's actions, would let users create "virtual menus." It already works like that... in effect... within the limits of the commands and input it currently recognizes. Procedurally, invoking the Console and inputting commands is hardly different than opening and keying through a menu system... except the commands you need to type are a bit too syntax-sensitive. But if they could be made to mnemonicly invoke existing actions -- for example: Console - Take - Active - Delete) -- you could "menuize" just about anything that was action-accessible.
