the g-rack from marathon to mount the g4 sideways works well, but the supplied plastic clippy things to help out the superdrive (without vertical holding clips) aren't all that. what are you using? this is a pain. can one yank out the superdrive and mount it in a fw case? or does it need the ata-direct connection in order to work? or are there other tricks to make this work well? i'd like to keep it in the original place. other clips/holders/tabs? thanks Florian
I take the Superdrives out of G4s and put into FW cases but replace them with plain DVD drives which work mounted sideways. Toast burns fine to the FW Superdrives but Apples own iApps (eg iDVD) dont.
I had this same problem. Marathon makes these plastic "Tabs" that connect to the top and bottom of the Superdrive. I have to say...They work great. Give your dealer a call...They should be able to procure them for you. If in LA, RSPE got them for me. Cheers,
I had a totally different experience with the Marathon tabs (which you can get FREE by calling Marathon). They suck. A disc slipped-out of the tray while in the drive -- and got stuck in the drive. I had to take the drive APART to get the disc out. Sucks. Bigtime. Be careful!

ctmartin, that is my experience also. the clips don't hold the disk properly and some of the disks fall out of the drive or get stuck halfway in etc. anybody find a solution for this?
I believe that Marathon makes an Apple mounting rack now, that holds the computer in the proper position, but it also looks like it wastes a lot of rack space. Have you guys/gals seen these?
Yes, they're called Verizontals. I also had to take one of my G4's apart to retrieve a disc from the belly of a Superdrive, so I ordered them, and they work great. Takes up more rack space, but my Superdrives now work as originally intended. You just have to mount anything else in the same rack sideways, which in my case are drives, so it doesn't matter.
