I have a little rock piece that I recorded back in 2001. Every so often I pull up the session and tweak it a little. I've got tons of stuff that I go back and tweak, but thought I'd present this one to this esteemed group of artisans. I never seem to be done with a session, I just keep tweaking it to death, and if I do bounce it to disk, I'll just go back in a few months and bounce it again with some changes. So, I guess the question is... am I done with this thing yet? Why don't you give it a listen. I put it out at: Once you get there, click on the "Music" folder. Then there's a piece in there called "Zoey's Dream". Tell me what you think. All constructive critisism welcome. -Andy
BTW - I normally don't write Rock stuff, I mostly do acoustic instrumental type of stuff so this represents a slight diversion from my normal path. Sometimes I just look at my Les Paul and think, hmmmmm... I want to crank it up.

Ahh... silly me. The url accidentally had two "http://" in it. Try: briefcase.yahoo.com/ Then click on the music folder. It should be in there. Sorry 'bout that.

I like the way it is done. Nice fat sound, maybe a little low in the high-end. I do hear something i cant ereally place. It does not involve mixing, but the arrangement of the drums. At 1:30 and 1:45 there's a break in the drums and that sounds weird in my ears. But dont take that too seriously...i am not a musician..just an engineer

I like your ideas here, especially the back half of the track where you split and texture...that's nice. Hard to tell if the music's "finished" w/o the vocal track in there. IMHO, the drum track sounds like it could be "worked/polished" a bit. But I agree with Bastiaan that it does sound fat, and I think, pretty good at this point.
Boy that's great feedback. It's funny how once you've listened to something a million times the obvious stuff just blends in. The drum at 1:30 and 1:45 is an obviously out of control floor tom and you're right, it needs to be toned down a bit in the mix. I also notice that it seems a little bottom heavy now, but I'm using headphones since my little girl is asleep. I'll give it another run through the monitors once I've got an empty house. Thanks!!!! -Andy
