FW-1884 AND FE-8S AS CONTROLLERS

FW-1884 AND FE-8S AS CONTROLLERS 

Hi, I just downloaded Reaper and i'm trying to use it but can't get past setting up my FW1884 and FE8's to running. Here's what i've done. 1. Preferences>Midi Devices>Midi inputs, I set the FW-1884 Control to "Control Only" 2. Midi out I set FW-1884 to enabled. 3. Control devices>Mackie Control Universal 4. Midi In>FW-1884 Control 5. Midi Out>FW-1884 Control 6. "OK" At this point I receive the error "Control Suface: Error Opening Midi inputs and outputs. I do the same for the extenders and get the same error. Any suggestions?

A device can't be assigned as a MIDI device and a Control Surface at the same time within REAPER. Try clearing the MIDI Device selections and setting it up as a Control Surface only. Cheers, Malcolm.
