Can anyone help with getting the Tascam DM 4800 (32 channel firewire MK11) to control Reaper? Hope you can help Ta. Better give some details... The audio is fine, 32 channels coming down firewire. I am talking about transport controls, track arming, locate, maybe even faders ect. Is there a MMC for Reaper? I could not see it on the list.
I use a DM3200 and have no problem with it as a control surface. I run audio through the firewire and hook up the usb for the control surface. I don't use the firewire midi for control. I have my internal MMC set to Steinberg MC. Then in Reaper, I set up the control surface as a Mackie control UNIVERSAL on Midi port 5 (in and out). That controls my transport and first 8 faders. Then I set up a Mackie Control EXTENDER for the last 8 faders on Midi port 6 (in and out) with a track offset of 8. I currently run this in OSX but have also had it work in Vista 32 and WinXP... Hopefully you can adjust the settings to fit your DM4800! Andrew
Still not working, I got the play and stop but when I press them on the desk, I get a MIDI error pop-up in windows, when I close the pop-up the play or stop works Reaper.. I even did a factory reset just in case I had messed something up with my fumbling in the menus.
Make sure your machine control is set up to M MC Steinberg and that you set up your EXT. Control to MC Steinberg too. That will give you the midi ports to use. Mine are set on 5/6... Also my MC Setup is Edit Frames=on, Cueing Mode=on, Play Mode=auto, MMC Command Type=true true search. I wish I could help more, but I'm still fairly new with my Dm3200 as I've only had it for 3 months. (But once you get it working, it's awesome!) Andrew
Thanks Andrew That seems to work for play and stop. Have not figured out REC select ect.. but I am making some small progress. My problem was I was enabling things in the Midi device preferences. when I disabled those, things started to work.
I saw on the Tascam forums that you had solved your problem. You mind telling what it was? Since I'm a newb to the DM3200, I want to make sure I learn about any potential problems. Thanks!
