Hi all, New years eve and yet another question while I'am sitting in what feels like the middle of a Hurricane. The central locking on my 1991 240 opens all the other doors and boot apart from the drivers door which requires me to do one of two things 1. turn the key right while holding up the handle or 2. open rear drivers passenger door and lift up door button. If the door closes with the keys inside I have to revert to step 2 I've had a look around the inside of the door and can see nothing amiss ( not very knowledgable in this area). I had tried also to adjust the bar as per the haynes manual but it makes no difference. Any body got any idea's on what may be at fault or how can I disable the central locking completely ( would this even cure my problem temporarily ) ? thanks in advance and a happy New Year to one and all brendan

Hi, Is your C/Locking done with a remote usually? If so does the C/Locking work when using the key, and does this open the drivers door? (or do you need to play with the handle still?) Could well be the C/L motor or the actuator. If the drivers door is not operating correctly even with the key then the problem lies with the drivers door lock. Des. . . ;)

Remove the actuator motor and probe the connector that was going to it and ensure you can see a voltage in eather polarity for at least 1 second when triggers to lock or unlock. If ok then wire has bot broken where it come through the hinge boot. Now open the motor, there are a pair of contacts that hold a disc like a thick shilling, remove it from the contacts and clean the shilling and the contacts replace shilling connect the power connector and try again. Igf ok then re-install. Job done. This disc is a negative coefficient resistor that allows the motor to have full power for a second or so then it's resistance rises and effective cuts off the power to the motor. the voltage polarity ir reversed to lock or unlock the doors. Regards Peter
