i think the delay has to do with all the conversion going on. There's nothing wrong with that, just that it takes a little time. (digi001: preamp->ad->ptle. Tascam: preamp->ad->TDIF/adat converter->ptle. The tascam will take more time because there's an extra conversion there...) You can try to get the tracks in perfect sync by nudging the tracks that are delayed a bit. You need to do a little testing though. With the same buffer-settings as you have in your session, record something through your console. A short click or beat or hit or handclap, anything short will do. Then record that with one mic connected to the analog in AND the tascam stuff. (dont worry about quality, just get the signal in. the only thing you need to see is when it starts). After you recorded it you zoom in deep, and select the part that is delayed, with your meter-reading set to samples. Once you figured out howmany samples it is delayed, you can nudge all those tracks back the number of samples you measured, and everything should be in perfect sync.

I guess that makes sense but isn't that what the whole word clock sync is all about? Also when I sync the 002 to the ADAT clock it's still like 1ms out of sync. Any other comments would eb very much appreciated.

AFAIK wordclock is to keep everything in sync, not to compensate for delays like this. You will see tha the delay is always the same amount, and that you dont have pops and clicks in your audio. That is what the digital sync/wordclock ir for.

I have a quick question. I was doing some experimentation with my I/O and did the following: - I simultaneously recorded the same track on the analog inputs and the optical inputs. - On playback I noticed taht these were ever so slightly out of sink. Is this normal? If I have two separate sources I would never be able to notice. I'm just curious...should these be dead on? Is there anything I can do to make them perfect? My setup is as follows: Digi Analog Input from Tascam Analog Mixer Digi Optical Input from Tascam IF-TAD (TDIF to ADAT convereter). Digi is set to internal and Tascam is locked to Digi vial IF-TAD Word Clock Connector.
