Trouble is, nobody ever talks about how to implement this. I could try to use that parameter control assignments mockup to illustrate a possible way. Parameter knobs are similar to midi CC assignments after all. Here we go (-edited for some more ideas-): The copy and clear buttons, the preset button will enable the user to reuse and copy around these complex assignments. When the Copy To or Copy From buttons are clicked on, they open a dropdown menu or a dialogue that lets the user pick all the tracks that the same plugin is on, via checkbox I'll assume. I can add a dialogue box like that later to this mockup. That dialogue box includes an All button. No unnecessary work by the user clicking dozens of buttons.
Sounds great along with reflected's requests and mine for min max fader values for the controlled parameter

an ideal inspector window would be: context sensitive - tracks/items and more and persistent - select different tracks/items (/regions/envelopes/markers) and see their props (see tracktion)

This is what I imagine the Copy To function would do, i.e. open up a dialogue window that lists three function buttons, and a button for each track so the user can select individual tracks as their target. The Copy From dialogue would obviously have one source. In each case the track button list would only contain the tracks that have the same plugin(s), so if you click on the Copy To button in a ReaEQ section, you'll only get tracks that contain a ReaEQ plugin in the dialogue window. Copying plugins might be a good function as well. This is of course only an illustration. This would need to be done with OS elements. It's kept as simple as possible.
the "Persistent Properties Panel" idea is simply a window which shows the properties of whatever item/track/point etc is selected. If you change the selection the contents of the window will change appropriately. The window can be tabbed if necessary as in Airon's mockup (likewise for items there should be a "source props" tab.) the hope is that one could leave it open or docked. Then whenever you select a trackyou could see right away all the critical data: it's timebase, record mode, whether it plays rec. media while recording. And likewise for any other object. To consolidate editable info in one place in short - in the hopes of simplifying workflow.

I could scratch the track list on the left, and just let the user pick the track on the TCP, MCP or the SWS tracklist(Cockos!). The parameter midi assignment page in the other v2 thread would be a little too large for that, so the inspector window or docked part would have to expand for that particular context sensitive function. Mockup coming. - edit - And here it is. Whatever track is selected will have its data presented here, in this case it's the parameter knobs section. There are sections to view and edit parameters for the track, item, item-fx(maybe scratch this one), parameter knobs and controllers. The lock button in the top right lets the user lock the display to the current selection, so the data of that selection stays editable while the user works with other selections. Actually, we might as well open up a general inspector panel feature request thread. DONE Go to the thread .
