Dashboard Messages

I have a Volvo S40 1.6cc 08 Plate Today I noticed that I cannot get the message board to work properly. All that comes up is DST and No messages or you have 1 message. Any Ideas Ordoes this model not have this facility. Colin Torrie

That seems quite normal , no messeges are good news ! If you open a door you should get a message to test whether its working ok .. the DSTC ON message is normal . The messages are mainly warnings when something is not right accompanied by the red/orange triangle , orange is a minor fault red a more serious one . I assume you have no trip/fuel computer on this car ..

If you have a fuel/trip computer then you turn the knurled wheel on the indicator stalk to cycle through them. If the wheel is not there or does not turn then you do not have the computer and will just access messages using the button at the end of the stalk as you are doing.

Thanks for your respnses, but according to the handbook there is a trip/fuel computer on this model also it has a knurled wheel on the indicator stalk. I am probably not using it properly. Thanks anyway Colin.

as you have the late model with DSTC switch on the rotating knob it will still rotate even if no trip computer , it will just show blank on all the other positions . The handbook is general so shows all options if you turn the switch knob and only get DSTC ON then there is no trip computer .

You get used to it, pretty simple to understand, its when u get all the messages on the screen u feel like turning it off lol
