The bonnet has been open so often lately it has stopped working? It will not click shut - i have tried the release in car, and it has no effect - there is a catch (v-shaped )that i can push down with a screw driver but it does not stay down, springs back up. Has something broken, or i wrong position? Any help? thanks

The lever that the cable is attached to at the catch end usually seizes up. Undo the three 10mm bolts holding the catch to the car flip it over so you can see the back you can then see where the cable attaches. Dose with WD40 or similar and work with fingers until free. Re-fit and test. Paul.

Did that, thanks, but it did not appear to return. I went an inspected the other end of the cable( in car) and it has almost completely snapped( hanging by one thread) Is replacing the cable a nightmare? I imagine it is? One thing after another with this car

undo the bonnet lock from the crossmember, remove the drivers side front wheel, and remove the plastic wheel arch liner, free the cable from its ties, and pull it through the wheel arch noting its route. inside the car, remove the drivers side lower facia panel, remove the screws from the release lever and unhook the end of the cable. on refitting, apply a little grease, and check operation before putting everything back. paul
