Play subtitles when subfile is not on cd

I have quite a big collection of divx / xvid dvd-rips, and want to view them with subtitles. My preferred player is zoomplayer (optimized for tv output), and as long as the subfile was burnt with the moviez on the cd : no probs. But is there a good player which can load subs separately, e.g. when the movie is on a cd, but de subfile is on a harddisk? Because I sometimes had to finalize the burn session, so that I can't add any subs later on the cd... Or is this possible with zoomplayer? Thx in advance for any help!
