indeed Lawrence! :) VVV. My biggest problem with this is the time selection already works like this and although we could get them to change colours it might be confusing. One slight change of this idea above that I would love is if the main regions (top of screen) caused the arrange page colour within that regions area to take on a slight "hint" of the region colour so it made it far more obvious where we were. If this happened a grid settings option to remove the strong vertical lines would work then! :) Or, is that what you meant in the first place anyway! lol
Sounds good to me. One huge benefit of the Cubendo model is that you can literally drop markers all over the place and it never gets visually cluttered because every set of markers (markers being used for completely different purposes) can be on their own individual tracks, placed anywhere in the project vertically, and hidden at will, in folders at least until they add directly hiding arrange tracks. That's (imo, mmv) one clear benefit of dedicated track classes in those particular cases, the ruler and marker tracks. The cycle markers work like Reaper's (or rather, vice versa), you can drag those and they can take the media in that range with them, and selecting them sets the loop range and all that. It all works really well in practice ... especially inside folders. Cubendo obviously has some rather klunkly workflow bits in some places, but they did those parts really well. I think sometimes people are so intent on "beating" the competition that they often can't really see where directly copying the competition would be really beneficial. Nuendo has some really great bits that don't exist in Reaper.
an addition to this would be an option to copy and move the items within the folder or below it like we can now with normal regions :) That would get us close to my ultimate desire! ;) See below

So what do empty items not do in this regard ? ADR studios will just buy Nuendo 6, because it just does everything they need, but marking out stuff.... what are the downsides to just using coloured empty items ?
All good stuff there :) It doesn't have to be that much of an addition which is what I like about it. I like the idea of having a right click menu for most of the settings since you can then do be more free to adapt them. All good!
