If the audio items in the project are at a different sample/bit rate than what you are rendering to, there can be an significant increase in rendering time due to the resampling when using the higher quality resampling modes. If the render is at the same sample rate as the audio items, it will be faster but if the project is 88.2k for example you would still need to convert outside of Reaper before going to CD. Sometimes I'll render as-is from Reaper then resample with RBrain from Voxengo, other times I'll resample with Reaper during the render. This usually depends on what I am working on and what/why I am renderning for. Regards- Karbo

I just did a render to a 48/24 .wav file (just like the orig. tracks are). It took 2:23 - essentially no different than doing the sample rate conversion!

I know it isn't related, but out of curiosity if I may, what's the point of recording at 48 KHz if you know already the destination is a CD at 44.1 KHz? I don't get it.

Hi. I like Reaper alot. That said - you can try Adobe Audition 3.01 - FREE - excellent software that might do the job you need - until you get your Reaper situation worked out. Reason I'm trying Reaper is it's 64 bit vs AA 3.01 32 bit. Plus there's a lot of great things under the hood with Reaper which are simply amazing. Learning curve with both. Reaper is steeper. But well worth the effort.
