I've been using the "Write BWF chunk", "Include project filename in BWF description", and "Write markers as cues" options to consolidate tracks for a shared project. It's great that this information can be stored in Wave and WavPack files, and very useful. Another great thing which I haven't seen mentioned - in addition to the markers being stored as cues, the text of any region is also stored "somewhere" in the data. And if the wav or wv is re-imported to Reaper, the region text is displayed inside the item! Very cool! Now I have a couple of questions: 1. Once I've sent them to my collaborator, is there a method to convert the WavPack files back to Wav, and retain the BWF data? His DAW (not Reaper, the sinner!) does not support WavPack, and of course we'd rather not send uncompressed waves due to the filesize. 2. Is there a tag viewer/editor (ID3 or otherwise) that will let me look at and/or edit the BWF metadata (especially the region info) outside of reaper?

I can't help you with this but the "start offset" isn't written correctly when using WavPack: -> it always says "0:00.000" :( FIXED

Thanks! That's good to know. It hasn't cropped up for me yet, as the offset isn't important to the current project, but it is an important difference from BWF wave. A related note - I use the SWS extensions to export my markers and regions to the clipboard/text file and it might help to know that you can also export the "absolute time" when doing this - this is essentially the same as the offset you mentioned, but of course just a text indication for reference.

All this hoopala wasn't necessary. Wavpack keeps all the metadata and chunks it is given. All you have to do is unpack it with the Wavpack executable and you get eveything the original WAV had in it. All metadata is restored. For a snazzy frontend for Windows, go here: or pick the one just for Wavpack: and get the Wavpack executable here: Place them besides one another, and whoever needs to is good to go. Apart from the programs mentioned above, there is also the free and powerful That's available for Windows and OSX, but is mainly for editing and managing recorder meta data. It does not let you edit the DESCRIPTION for example. Still, it's a good tool to have around as well.
