Just got around to changing the cambelt on my 850 2.0 20 valve. Reading the haynes manual it describes the timing mark on the crank pulley as difficult to see.A bit of an understatement I cant see any mark at all, but I can see a ridge on the outer edge of the pulley that maybe the same thing. Ive found a pic of the pulley and marked the ridge in question would it be okay to use this a reference. The other option Im thinking about is to pull the pulley off the crank and locate the timing mark that way. Does anybody have info on their experiences of locating this elusive mark?
The ridge does sit in the valley of the tooth flanked by the two marks,I looked for signs of the two ridges of the teeth today but couldn't spot anything!
If, when the two cams line up with their marks, you can get an accurate reference at the crank, then highlight it and use it as a reference when doing the job. Pookie
