I want to start using a freeze function for my vst/effects. I heard there was some sort of custom action where I can freeze/unfreeze tracks?

Right click on a track an press 'Render to stem track and mute original'. Also you can select many tracks and it does the whole in one pass (that saves time!). good luck

After working in Sonar for 6+ years (so I admit bringing with me a bit of a bias) I find Reapers approach to rendering a bit too geeky and logically scattered. Rendering options are core audio features and should be easy and transparent. If I want to freeze a track or render a VSTi to another track it should be very clear and apparent. I shouldn't have to go digging through menus, help files, and forum searches to figure out something so fundamental. Simply judging by the number of times this issue gets addressed here is a clear indication that something is logically amiss. Just my 2 cents. Best regards, DB

I find the REAPER options very intuitive. Different strokes.

Use this if you need it (or something else from the actions menue) as a core-function-button.

i have no problem with stem rendering. it creates a stem directly next to the original track, hardly as cluttered and disorganized as many make it out to be.
