Yeah, that is (or was, it's gone) the one. I realise that moderation here is rightly kept to the absolute minimum but where there's completely unnecessary stuff with a tone that then encourages others to (very wrongly) think it's the level of this forum, then it's good to see it gone. Apparently the best way to deter vandals in the real world is simply to clean up as soon as it's seen. I believe you have some experience in that field, Justin?! :)

I don't want to attack anyone here or say it was a wrong suggestion but seriously, I've seen more flame and it's not been extinguished. This was, imHo, a minor thing compared to other things here on Forums.

Mercado_Negro, the remaining quote of the offensive post didn't quote the offensive part. We usually err on the side of not moderating here, because people are for the most part cool and the community vibe polices itself, but outright racism, anti-semitism, etc is not OK.

Hi schwa- I'm sure I'll be accused of being hypersensitive and that I "just don't get it", but I hope at some point you'll add to that list. I ignored all the "jokes" surrounding the premature release (no doubt that will get sniggers from some as well) thread, but IMO, this should have been caught, too: Jokes about rape aren't funny, IMO, and I can't imagine that you think they are, either. Granted there are a few females on this forum now, but with the prevalent attitude that it's ok to mock and demean women, I'm just not comfortable here. I thought that attitude had gone out years ago, but apparently not. Thanks- -Susan

I agree with Susan here. I delelted the offending post, but did not edit any quotes that keep the awful crud alive. :( .t

here also. Having to deal with the aftermath too often of these assaults, there's not a lot of humor to be found.

I agree that it's important to make people feel welcome. We will continue to go light on the moderation, but if somebody thinks a comment is mean spirited, please report the comment rather than assuming that a lack of moderation implies endorsement/agreement. I am preemptively locking this thread because I think what needed to be said was said. In short: please everybody be cool.
