Anyone have this problem. I have an old pair of Sony 7506 headphones that I've had for about seven yrs and I love their clear, open sound.....much like good home speakers, and I find them good for mix referencing. I bought a new pair because the ear pads were worn a little. But the new pair has a totlly difference sound. They 're dead and muffled, no more highend. Maybe more of a flat sound, I find them not so good with mix-reference. I was going to send them back and try the MDR-7509's, but I found they work good in the vocal booth because the highend doesn't bleed into the mic as much. Anybody try the MDR-7509's???

Sounds like the headphones might be bad. I bought a pair a little while back and they sound as they always have since I've been using 7506's. (only a couple years). They should be under warranty if under a year old.

7506's have never been what you'd call "dead and muffled" sounding. The main complaint I hear regarding them is that they are a bit hyped in the highs. I'd say you have a defective pair.

You can buy replacement muffs for your old ones directly from Sony. You definitely got a bad set, they have not lost their brilliance at all...OUCH!!!!

Thanks folks. I will try to get a new pair. The new pair does not have that "Hyped open Highend" like the old pair. That's y I said the new pair sounded dead and muffled.
