I think most people would say WAIT. The new dual processor Macs are not yet proven and there is a big shift to OSX coming up with Protools 6. There will probably be a few months of turmoil ahead for those "brave" enough to commit to the new hardware and software. But once everything is stable................
If you wait much longer, your new mac will only run under OSX. As of Jan 2003, all new macs will no longer run on any OS except OSX. Since PT will not run on OSX, and when the new version of PT(6) does get released, it is most likely going to go through a few revisions before running smoothly, I highly recommend buying a new mac BEFORE Jan 2003, and making sure it will be capable of running OS9. And yes you are correct PT currently does not utilize the second processor, however PT6 will as OSX is a native dual processor operatiing system. Hope this is helpful.
