I'm looking for a good cheap soundcard

the audiophile would be my first recommondation. lots have used it to good ends. I had a 1010lt for awhile. liked it much.

rokkD.. i would suggest u look carefully at the ESI juli@. from ego sys i think. google for independent tech reviews.... they are very favorable ..not quite an expensive lynx.... but very very good. just google for more info.

Sure thing. I did the same for quite some time, using an old Soundblaster Live!5.1 for MIDI and Soundfonts, and using my Delta 1010 for audio. Worked a treat here. Raphael ;)
