Recording with a Chromebook?

Has anybody tried this? I have a cousin, interested in recording studios, but his computer is a Chromebook. Has anybody here attempted to do any audio with one? Any suggestions? He's young, and not yet working, so costs are an issue. Thanks in advance!

There are some real easy prebuilt linux setups for chromebooks, and there may be a Reaper linux version or use wine. So it is possible.

If you put the chromebook in developer mode (caution: doing so requires erasing it completely), you can install Crouton and Ubuntu (which runs inside ChromeOS), which you can then use to run Reaper. It is tricky, though...

Nah nah nah. There is no "right way" to play with some recording software. It's fair to say not all of us, probably 99% of us have no "studio," we are not professionals, we are not in business or seeking profit, and this is all for learning and entertainment. We are mostly novices tinkering, not producing blockbusters. So learning how to install Ubuntu on Chromebook, how to get Reaper running on Linux, and how to use Linux... These are all learning opportunities.
