any reports on what firewire drives have been givin the green light to use from digidesign, how fast do they have to be (ie seek time, thru time, bla, bla) any info would be great, here is a more diffucult one, do you know are have you heard any reports about using firewire drives with G3 powerbooks, I have the original G3, just before the wallstreet, I am thinking of getting a PCMCIA card to firewire, I am using Pro-tools ver. 4.3.2, and have used an external APS 4 gig, it works great, anyway, if you have any info, or heard from others, that would be great, my email, is

I see that you haven't received a reply to your query re: firewire and Protools. This is exactly the reason I joined the user group - to find out if firewire was ok. I wonder if you have learned anything separate from the user group. Any info would be appreciated and, of course, I will reciprocate.

Ray, Search the DUC for "Firewire". There are thousands of posts here re: configurations, speeds, etc. BTW, Digidesign hasn't approved ANY Firewire drives yet!
