I'm ready to upgrade my system with XP (dual boot with 98) and with 5.3.1, but I've been reading a few posts where people are going back to 98 version because of probs with getting set up with PT on XP. I thought it would be great to get a count of how many have upgraded, and of those how many have succeeded in getting it working or how many have gone back to 98 to wait for fixes or a 5.3.2...? Just a simple "yes, it's working" or "no, it's not" would be cool. If you're of the latter group and have the time, perhaps a quick summation of the problems you had? Thanks to all! paul

Hi Paul, I had to go back to ME myself. But, seeing guys like Sabe, who's transition went as smooth as a baby's butt( ) leads me to believe my problems are pc related. In other words, I was having a few problems before I even attempted upgrading, so I'm staying with what I know for a while. Oh, and my main XP problems were the -6042 errors, which halted whatever I was recording. ~rh
Hello ! I'm dual booting Win98se and XP. Everything went as smooth as Roy said ( ) once I had figured out the partitioning stuff. Haven't done the davec test yet, but older 5.1.1 sessions (22 tracks with extensive editing & plugs) opened fine. One very minor problem I had was a lost setting on a Digirack plug (slap delay), but that was it. I simply re-installed my Waves plugs on the new XP partition, apparently the Pace stuff saw my authorizations on the Win98 partition (i'm guessing here) because everything worked with no questions asked. Just for the hell of it, I integrated a QT movie into this 22 tracks session & that worked like a charm too. I haven't tweaked my XP setup at all, except that so far all I have got on it is Internet, Network, PTLe and Soundforge. BTW, it is XP Pro. So, all in all, great & easy. setup : PIII 800 - 256 Mb, Asus 440 Bx Mobo, 6gig system drive (split in two partitions, Win98se Fat32/XP Pro Ntsf), 40 gig audio drive. PS : I haven't tweaked my XP setup yet, but I've got XP on my Sony Vaio as well. A good site for easy tweaking of XP (just removing all the irritating MS stuff you don't need) : Very cool Cheers to you all
Working great... 19 tracks on the Davec test. (can't type in negative numbers in the pan though.... I know, I know, but I refuse to shut up about that... I can't believe Digi didn't catch that in testing. But if that's the worst problem I ever have with it, and so far it has been, I'll be great with it). chris 1.4 ghz Athlon T-Bird Soyo Dragon (original) mobo 512 DDR Ram 40gb sys drive 60gb audio drive GeForce2 64mb MX400

XP/PTLE 5.3.1 both work fine, now... here's what I had to do to get here: 1- clean install of XP Home on newly reformatted NTFS hard drive. (the previous FAT32 HD partition became corrupted and I had no choice after a few days) 2- installed updated (XP) drivers for the AGP video card, also the patch for EZCD creator 3- installed newest VIA 4in1 drivers 4- put the system drive and the music drives on separate IDE channels, both as Master this configuration is now running smoothly. Haven't run the DAVEC since upgrading... have more tracks than I need anyway. Waves 3.5 upgrade is very good. Autotune V1.1 working fine. athlon 1.2GHz Abit KT7E mobo with 384MB/PC133 Nvidia TNT2 Riva AGP card Maxtor, Seagate and Western Digital hard drives, ATA 100 and ATA66 no sound hardware other than DIGI001
