Lame_mp3.dll problem

I utilized the rendering of a song to an mp3 once before and it worked great after downloading lame mp3 dll. Now it's asking for it again, so i deleted Reaper, got the song ready, and downloaded the .dll. It is stored in the Reapers folder, NOT the others as advised several pages back. Yet it is a tar.gz file that isn't recognized. What am i missing? It is my understanding that one does not open it, just save it to C:\Program Files\Reaper and it should find it.

I think a tar.gz is a compressed file so I think you might need to unzip it. The file you need in your Reaper folder (e.g somewhere like C:\Program Files\REAPER) will be called something like lame_enc.dll Pete

True, it has to be unzipped first, but you have to buy a zip program to extract it. I did not have to do this before, when i went to the site provided in this forum. Has something changed and is no longer free?

hmmm...where have you downloaded the lame_enc.dll before? In most cases it is zipped and not downloadable as pure dll. And why don't you use 7zip? It's free. Lame zipped:

MicaJO!!!! That was the site. The other posted in the form was for the tar.gz file. I extracted it to the C\Program Files\Reaper, and it worked like a charm. You all are great!

No, sorry, silly mistake. "lame_enc.dll"

Hmmm...maybe it has something to do with read/write authorizations in Vista? (I've never used Vista but have heard of problems with that) Hopefully some others can help.
