WMV9 without WMP9

Is it possible to play back wmv9 files without having to install wmp9? I cannot, for the life of me, find a download for the codecs alone. If I have to install a 3rd party player, I'd sooner do that than give into the bloatware of wmp9 (still using 6.4!)

Thanks... I'd already seen that thread and found the link dead. I ended up downloading the SDK from ms and msvcrtd.dll elsewhere to dump in the winnt/system dir. There's an exe in the SDK bin dir called DSPlay that is a crude but functional way of playing the files.
